History of the refinery
Orsky Refinery was created in the 30s of the 20th century, when the largest industrial center in the south of the Urals began to form. Due to a lack of manpower (1654 people instead of the planned 3440), the pace of construction of the plant was extremely low. But thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of the workers, at the end of 1935, the oil refinery received the first supply of crude oil, and in early 1936 produced the first gasoline.
During the Great Patriotic War, the refinery continuously supplied the military industry and the rear with the required oil products. It continued to work steadily worked during the economic crisis of 1998, remaining practically the only working production company of the city.
In 2000, the Orsk refinery merged with TNK, in 2005-2011 it was the subsidiary of the holding company RussNeft. Today it is the main asset of ForteInvest, remaining the city major employer with one of the largest salaries in Orsk.
