“Yaroslavl Refinery” has been in the history since 1879. The construction of the plant began in March, and already in October YaNPZ started its work. From 1881 the founder of the refinery – businessman Viktor Ivanovich Rogozin – invited a team of specialists for cooperation, it was headed by the scientist-encyclopedist Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev, after whom the refinery was named.
From the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, many factories were inaccessible because of the enemy’s offensive, then the Yaroslavl refinery was the most significant facility to meet the needs of the army. With this, the scale of oil refining increased by 20%, despite extremely difficult conditions: frequent bombardments and the departure of hundreds of workers to the army.
In such a way Yaroslavl Refinery became one of the largest operating enterprises in the industry. From 1995 to 2012, the YaNPZ named after Mendeleev was a complex of organizations of the company” Slavneft “. The beginning of the 21st century became a difficult period for the company: production decreased, there were long idle times in work. For four years the refinery changed several owners: a controlling stake was purchased by ZAO NeftGazSbyt, AO Mendeleev Group, PAO Moscovskiy Creditniy Bank.
In the autumn of 2016, the Yaroslavl Refinery was declared bankrupt, but as early as the spring of 2017 preparations began for the resumption of the work of the enterprise.
For its history, the Yaroslavl Refinery has repeatedly become a champion in certain areas of oil refining. For example, it was the Mendeleevsky refinery in Yaroslavl that was the first to produce Euro-95 Premium gasoline, the first to complete the transition to the production of Euro-5 gasoline. Here the production capacities is more than 15 million tons of oil per year.
And today Yaroslavl Refinery-YANOS produces a wide range of high quality oil products. Modern technologies of production are used here and the equipment is constantly being upgraded, which allows the refinery to compete successfully with other producers of oil products.
Yaroslavl Refinery: products
The assortment of the refinery contains all the main products of oil refining. At the same time, most of the product names are ecologically clean low-sulfur fuel, which corresponds to the Euro-5 class. Products produced by the Yaroslavl Refinery-Slavneft and the refinery itself have repeatedly won prizes of all-Russian competitions and awards.
The main oil products of the Yaroslavl Refinery:
- Distillate of gas condensate (DGC)
- Process fuel
- Fuel for diesel engines including EN-590.
- Gasoline corresponding to the Euro-5 class.
- Jet fuel.
- Aviation kerosene KS-1.
- Oils of all kinds.
- Liquefied gases.

- Low-ash residual fuel oil.
- Aromatic hydrocarbons.
Yaroslavl Refinery provides products of black gold distillation to most large enterprises, airports, railway facilities and the military-industrial complex of the center and north-west of Russia. This is one of the largest industrial enterprises in the region.
Mendeleevskiy Refinery is among the leaders not only in terms of volumes, but also in the depth of processing of raw materials. This indicator is constantly growing and today is more than 65%. This means that at the Yaroslavl refinery the amount of waste is constantly decreasing and the ecological compatibility of production is growing.
According to the official site, the Yaroslavl Refinery will begin shipping fuel in October 2017.
