The Urengoy oil and gas condensate field is one of the largest in the world. It is developed and operated by Gazprom’s subsidiary Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy
Here the high demand gas condensate “Novy Urengoy” is extracted. The field’s facilities include unique equipment for the raw materials treatment, booster stations, about 3,000 production wells, associated gas removal units sand the condensate supply facilities. Also, the gas condensate processing plant in Novy Urengoy gives special attention to the protection of natural areas, meeting the requirements of environmental organizations.
Characteristics
Gas condensate is extracted in oil and gas fields. It is formed as a result of pressure and temperature decrease during drilling of soil layers. The gas becomes a liquid, that condenses on the walls of the well. The color of the gas condensate depends on the deposits depth, the natural conditions and the content of impurities.
Novy Urengoy gas condensate is a practically colorless flammable liquid with a set point of -58 ° C. This is a raw material of excellent quality with the following properties:
- Density at 20°С – 761 kg/cu. m.
- Saturated vapor pressure – nor more than 10.
- Sulfur content – less than 0.015%.
- Does not contain water and alkalis.
Gas condensates of different brands have a different sulfur content, density and fractional composition.
Application
Unstable gas condensate is extracted from the well, and is subjected to further purification. Further, from the purified raw materials, stable gas condensate and a gas condensate distillate are obtained, which are used in various industries.
1. Fuel production.
The production of diesel fuel from gas condensate has already become widespread. Condensate can be used as an additive, in summer diesel fuel to lower the set point. The quality of diesel fuel with gas condensate is not lower that traditional solar oil quality.
Also, gas condensate is used to produce gasoline with low octane number, heating and jet fuel.
2. Chemical industry
Gas condensate is used for production of olefins and monomers are the basis for plastics and rubbers manufacturing. This raw material is called the “white oil” because of its composition and properties close to oil.
