Along with gas and oil there are also gas condensate deposits in subsoil. Gas condensate is extracted as an associated product. As a result of vertical drilling, when the pressure and temperature decrease, liquid hydrocarbons are condensed and separated from the gas. They are called gas condensate.
Gas condensates get their name from the name of the field. For example, Obsky gas condensate is produced at various refineries (Vladimir, St. Petersburg) from raw materials obtained from the Obsky field. The main differences between gas condensates of different brands are in key parameters such as:
- factional composition,
- sulfur content,
- density.
The composition of gas condensates depends on the depth of the deposit, the climatic zone and natural conditions. Gas condensate, like oil, consists of hydrocarbons, but it does not contain asphaltenes and resins, so it is called the white oil, although the color of the gas condensate varies from light yellow to brown. The Obsky condensate is a colorless liquid with a set point below -67 ° C.
Application
Gas condensates are usually used in petrochemical and fuel industry. They are widely used both as raw materials and as additives to fuel, because the output of gasoline fractions is more than half the product. Gas condensates are rarely used in its raw form, mainly they are purified and transformed to the distillates of gas condensate (DGC).
Distillate of gas condensate (DGC) is used for:
- the production of diesel fuel;
- the production of heating and jet fuel;
- for the production of low-octane gasolines;
- for the production of olefins and monomers in the production of plastics.
Diesel fuel with gas condensate has the same quality as the diesel fuel, obtained in the traditional way, and does not harm the fuel system of the car.
Characteristics
Like all brands of oil products, Obsky gas condensate has a quality certificate with the main parameters indicated:
- Sulphur content —22.0 ppm.
- Color – colorless (0 on the ASTM scale)
- Density at 20°С – 800 kg/cu. m.
- Absence of water, and mechanical impurities.
- Cetane number — 22.6;
- Cloud point – minus 60 ° C
- Set point is below -67 ° C.
The set point of the gas condensate can be lowered by dewaxing.
