- octane number,
- fractional composition,
- saturated vapor pressure, etc.
Octane number
This is the main indicator of the fuel class, which characterizes the resistance to detonation. It directly depends on the cost of a liter of gasoline. The conventional classification of detonation resistance includes 4 types:
- gasoline AI-80 (Normal),
- gasoline AI-92 (Regular),
- gasoline AI-95 (Premium),
- gasoline AI-98 (Super).
The figure in the marking corresponds to the percentage of isooctane in the mixture with n-heptane. Fuel with an octane number corresponding to the engine parameters, prolongs the service life of the machinery, improves the dynamics of the car and meets environmental standards.
In modern cars that are manufactured to European standards, it is recommended to use gasoline AI-98 or AI-95, the price for which is slightly lower than 98th.
The use of fuel with a different octane number (for example, AI-92 or AI-80) adversely affects the operation of the engine, leading to the destruction of the valve and pistons. As a result, it will be more profitable to buy a suitable gasoline than to repair a car.
Fractional composition
Gasoline is lighter than other liquid oil fractions. Its composition is regulated by GOST and affects the following characteristics of the engine:
• warm-up time,
• ease of launch,
• completeness of combustion,
• wear rate of parts,
• distribution of the fuel mixture along the cylinders.
Major fractions – starting, operating and final. In each of them there is a different composition of low-boiling hydrocarbons. The sale of gasoline with a composition that is not compliant with GOST is prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation. When deciding where to buy gasoline, choose a proven fuel company with the appropriate certificates and permits.
Extend the service life of your car – use high-quality fuel!
